Find out here how mk products and expertise were utilised to assist our customer with a Robot Processing Cell.

The customer needed a cell for integrating a robot and testing stations for checking high-precision small parts. They provided specifications for the enclosure dimensions, the carriers for the robot and testing stations and the operating and safety elements.

The products came from a cleanroom and needed to be automatically guided to the robot cell. The robot cell didn’t require cleanroom conditions but it was vital that dirt and contamination were avoided to the greatest extent possible. Mechanical interfaces had been defined for discharging parts that were approved, and not approved.

A robot cell made from mk aluminium system profiles was specified for the application. The robot itself and the testing stations were attached by the customer at defined connection points. There was also an integrated mk GUF-P MINI belt conveyor for feeding the small parts into the cell.

The robot deposits parts that are approved into a tray. Full and empty trays are picked by a customer-supplied tray feeder, which is connected to the aluminium profile enclosure.

Two manually operated drawers for discharging rejected parts were integrated for the robot to deposit the parts. The mechanical design and safety features meant that the system did not have to be powered off in the process.

This case study demonstrates how the use of the mk modular profile system, complimented by one of the mk conveyor range, has produced a solution focused design for the customer.  The detailed 3D model has enabled a collaboration where the customer feels that their needs are being understood and met.
